Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool

I did the Rhinebeck thing yesterday. It was a beautiful day. The leaves were in there glorious reds, golds and yellows...and it was unusually warm. I was pumped to go. I thought I would be going alone, but my husband thought it would be "something to do" with the boys. I was shocked yet pleasantly surprised that I had willing companions and didn't hafta drag 'em! Once we got there, I more or less breezed though the buildings to stave off any boredom that may creep in (ya know, the boys were with me). The colors were amazing, yarns were so soft, and I got to see Sherry from Brook Farms, again. After the first run, the boys went over to the rides which left me an hour to go through the booths again. All that walking gave me pains in the ankles, though. Isn't pregnancy supposed to loosen the joints? By the way, I'm 17wks today...my birthday! I felt the baby move for the first time yesterday in church! I can't wait to see the little one in about 3 wks when I have an ultrasound! But I digress. The buildings were less crowded the second time around but was it was downright hot in some of dem buildings (which may account for my waning enthusiasm). While there was much eye candy, I was a little sad that I could not pinch off $1 of my Stitches leavins to make a purchase. I guess I was yarned out (if that is possible) having been to Stitches a couple of weeks ago. Anything I thought about buying, I had to ask myself what I was going to use it for. Flashes of my stash and newly purchased stash additions was ever present before my eyes, making in difficult, nay, impossible for impulse buys. So this year, I left with my purse intact. It's a good thing...it's a good thing...it's a good thing! *SIGH*

The highlight of the day, which cracked me up, was when it was time to go for the rides (of course, now they' excited). My 5 yr old was navigating the 3 yr old in the stroller through the crowd. Not one to mince words, like a commando pilot the 3yr was saying in his most gruffiest voice, scuse me, scuse me, scuse me! These 2 shorties could hardly be heard over the din of the yarn stroking frenzy in those crowded buildings. I guess you hatta be there.

I too am envious. However, I wonder how similar Stitches and Rhineback are. Rhineback seems so much better the way everyone is raving about it. I went to Stitches west and had a blast. I just finished up the last of my Stitches acquisitions with the Shetland Triangle. The classes at these things are too expensive, so I only go to the market place to find deals.

I'm jealous about Rhineback and the baby. I couldn't handle another kid, but planning for one sure is fun. I start planning when I feel the first "kick." Cause it's then when I feel it's really real.

Thanks for the comments, ladies! I have to say Stitches market is way better...more to look at, more to choose from. Rhinebeck is great to meet up with others b'cuz it's smaller. You're lucky Nik, since you're local. I may pass on Stitches this yr b'cuz of the expense.

I'm waiting to see the baby and know the sex! Then I can start the planning, LOL!
